Updates from Bell City: The head coach is ...

Brian Brandtner is still the boys basketball coach at Bell City. I've had no luck reaching Brandtner on his cell phone since the rumor first started, but principal Matt Asher confirmed that Brandtner's job status has not changed. Brandtner also is the athletic director at Bell City.

The speculation that Brandtner was fired appeared to begin on a message board at MoSports.com earlier this week.

Brandtner is a good coach. He does not do any teaching on the sidelines is my knock on him. I thought he really bombed on the SCC game plan at Poplar Bluff. Just curious why he did not take the same game plan he used at Oran to beat SCC. He may have not beaten SCC but he would not have got blown out/

That program steadily declined over the last couple years. Brandtner is living off the success of the past coach. Like you said he doesn't teach the kids anything he just yells at the refs. The kids don't play as hard as they used to. BC is going to be down anyway but I wish the board would've listened to our principal and fired him.

He does not do any teaching on the sidelines? How could a douchebag sitting 50 feet away know anything about what a coach is saying to his players?

I guess at your high school they allow players to stay well beyond their senior seasons and illegal move in to the districts are acceptable.

The fact is, Brian Brandtner has done more with less talent than any coach in the state over the last 6 years. 139 and 38 with one player taller than 6'1" is all you need to know about how hard his kids play. If you really want a good look at his coaching ability, look at his points against compared to his predecessors.

You 2 f'n morons don't sound qualified to talk about chutes and ladders, let alone high school boys basketball.
