Tuesday events called off -- are there others?

It looks like much of the schedule tonight will be wiped out because of the lingering ice and snow.

So far, at least a dozen games are officially called off, including Poplar Bluff-Blytheville, Sikeston-Perryville, Bernie-Woodland, South Iron-Arcadia Valley, DeSoto-Potosi, and St. Vincent-North County, along with games at the Ellington Invitational.

Do you know of others? What games or tournaments are still on for tonight?

NMCC-Notre Dame

There is no way you can put SCC over sikeston.

Check who each team played over tha last 2 weeks. This site is rediculously biased...

What a bunch of whiners. Last year this site was biased toward Notre Dame, this year its for SCC. Poor Sikeston, quit crying.

Anonymous said...

No one said it was biased for SCC, just that they felt Sikeston was a better team. Last year you would have thought Notre Dame played in the NBA. Upset about ND being down this year? I know they are rivals but no reason to bash Sikeston.

What a bunch of girls...

Sikeston, how did that whining work out for you the last 2 years? Last year we kick that butt up and down the court and 2 years ago we spanked your butt on your court. Like we said then "THIS IS OUR HOUSE" Friday night might not be as much fun for you girls. We know your weakness and now we will pick you to death.

No, not upset at all, a team can't be good every year. Guess our recruiting class was down...

I'm not bashing Sikeston's team, just some of you whiney fans.

That last anonymous post must have come from an ND fan. If I remember correctly, two years ago, a hail mary buzzer beater saved y'all. Also, there is no way that weak of an ND team could beat Sikeston with the way they are playing. With Lane getting hot, Mike staying steady (scoring big even when getting hacked), and Juqualin Wiggins playing point better than anyone in the area, your supposed "weakness" we have would have to come from some bribery on the referees.

Farmboy06, I have no problem with you. You make fair points with facts backing them up. that's what I like to see. Keep it up, even if it is for SCC.

With a few less unforced turnovers, some better shot choices, and hopefully with Nick Koeppel back on the court, this game will be a good one. ND may not win against Sikeston once this year, but I don't think any of the games will be blowouts.

And I have no problem with Sikeston for the most part...I do have a problem with the seemingly abundant number of fans from Sikeston who get on message boards like this and talk like Sikeston has the best team in the state. Team spirit or not, pounding your chest on a dang message board earns you no respect with most folks.

Semoball has some common sense... Their poll has Sikeston at the top!

It is not Rocket Science...

Sikeston is best team in southeast Missouri. Notre Dame better bring their prayer beads come friday.

Anonymous said...

Farmboy, are you coiming down Friday to get that butt whooped? I love beating ND, just to piss off ppl like you...

Whats your excuse this year?

Anonymous said...

Haha, wasn't the nd crowd quiet for about 20 striat minutes at one point? I think i heard a few pencils drop. The sikeston student section killed Nd's. And I'm not a fan of either in particular, but Sikeston will win and should be the 1 team.

Explain to me how SCC should be ahead of Sikeston?

Sikeston lost to a better team, by less points than SCC.

They have beaten more top 10 teams then scc. Its completely obvious.

Anonymous said...

Oh so the team that talks less trash is better anonymous?

I know that ND was very highly ranked to start the season but they lost twice last week. Why are they still so high up on the top 25? There are a lot of teams under them who are undefeated or have only one loss who haven't played weak schedules that should be ahead of them? There are only two teams on the top 25 with the same or more losses and they're both on the way out (Charleston). What's with the bias?

Anonymous said...

People like me, eh? People who realize their team is down and aren't overly optimistic about the season? People who use logic instead of middle school arguments when discussing something? Yeah, folks like me, we sure drag down classy discussions like this one.

My excuse? When have I made excuses? What would I need one for?

givemethat said...

Down or not, ND will still give a fight. I guarantee you one thing. The boys on the team aren't making up any excuses.

Farmboy, what is your logic for why SCC is the number one team in SEMO? Simple question. In my opinion, I feel that Bluff would beat SCC and New Madrid might as well. Ealy and Minner would knock Otto Porter around, and they aren't the best jump shooting team around. I feel that NMCC and Sikeston would negate athleticism SCC uses to press and cause turnovers. That would leave a dogfight between NMCC and SCC, and allow Sikeston to beat them in multiple areas.

Anonymous said...

Farmboy, so you think after 2 losses in one week that ND should be ranked higher than several teams that have one loss and have played better?

Like I said, this site is very biased, but I guess thats what happens when 2 ND boys run the site.

Anonymous said...

Oh, and about you not whining, I remember your student section Thursday yelling " Hes like 20" when Mike made another basket.

Sounds pretty whiny for a school that never whines....

My logic for having SCC at 1 and Sikeston at 2 is this: both teams have one loss, each team's loss was to a very good team (Lafayette and Memphis Central). Who are you to say Lafayette in any better than Memphis Central. I GUARANTEE you weren't at both games, as the timing would be impossible. From all I have heard, Lafayette is a really good team, but so was Memphis Central. I don't disagree that Sikeston has played a tougher schedule so far, but both teams have won the games they were expected to. So how do you justify a team jumping over another in the standings, other than "because I think they're better"? SCC was ranked over Sikeston in the first place, and they have done nothing to drop in the standings. If SCC loses to ANYBODY and Sikeston keeps winning, then I think Sikeston will jump to number 1 and stay there for the rest of the season, but until SCC loses, it's not fair to drop them in rankings due to a schedule.

As for ND's ranking....I never mentioned where ND was ranked once on this whole blog, so I don't know what you are talking about. They're about where they should be. Most years, with the team they have, they would probably be farther down the line, but in case you haven't noticed (and judging by your posts, you haven't), basketball in SEMO is down this year overall. Jackson, ND, BC, Cape are all down. Sikeston is still good, SCC is still good, but beyond that, and throw NMCC and PB in there too, but beyond that, there aren't as many competitive teams around this year.

Anonymous said...

guess SEMO basketball needs a poll similar to the BCS that takes strength of schedule into consideration

you see where the BCS poll got college football

just causes a lot of confusion and never ending debate on who is better and who should be playing who in the BCS

Anonymous said...

Yeah...at least the BCS argument is for something worth fighting about. This is just for bragging rights on a website, yet folks get awfully offended if their team isn't declared hands down Best in SEMO.

I'm an SHS grad and now live in Memphis, TN and central is ranked 11th in the dandy dozen poll (top 12 high schools in the city of Memphis) they aren't that good, especially since Memphis is a basketball city. I think Lafayette the team out of St. Louis that Sikeston played is ranked in the top 3. I just think that a close loss to a school that boasts a D1 recruit holds a little more weight when it comes to rankings. With that being said I hope this Koeppel kid comes back so Sikeston can kick the snot out of Notre Dame and put all the naysayers to rest.

Until Scott County Central does something that costs it the No. 1 spot, or until Sikeston does something extraordinary to move to No. 1, I'd argue that it's a very accurate poll.

Behind No. 1 and No. 2, you could very likely rank any team from 3-25 and wouldn't be wrong. At this point of the season, there's not a lot of difference between most of the pack.

Anonymous said...

SHS grad from Memphis,

Is West Memphis included in the teams that make up that poll? I can't see them being a top 12 if Memphis Central is only at 11, but I was just curious if West Memphis is even included, considering they're an Arkansas team. I assume Memphis-White Station is close to or at the top of that list?

Anonymous said...

No West Memphis is considered Arkansas

Anonymous said...

Oh and yeah White Station ALWAYS has a very great team with 1 or 2 that go on to D1 schools or a lesser division. They're ranked 2nd in the city.

Anonymous said...

Wow, only 2nd? Who is first?

Joe Jackson from White Station is probably one of the best players I have ever seen in person.

Anonymous said...

Raleigh-Egypt is ranked number 1. They're an inner city school out of north Memphis. I really don't know alot about them. But the commercial appeal here says they are 10-2 and white station is 7-2 so I bet that would be a good game to see.

Anonymous said...

If they're that good, that would be a game worth making the trip to Memphis for.

Anonymous said...

A guy from Memphis was at the Sikeston at the game when Sikeston played in the Pepsi Showcase... He did the halftime layup...if you call that a layup!!! Any chance this Memphis boy is the same one!!!

Anonymous said...

naw man it wasn't me, I won't be going back home to visit till Christmas. Ha, was the layup that bad?

Anonymous said...

My little girl could come as close as he did that day!!!

But, just wanted to bash you a little if that was you...

Bluff beat Central. Central beat SCC. Sikeston beat Scc.

Sikeston is one
